Volunteers are needed the second Friday of each month at the Food Pantry beginning at 8:30 am to assist with unloading food delivered from the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Several palettes are delivered in preparation for the food distribution that occurs on the second Saturday of the month. Volunteers who are able to lift and carry 20 – 30 pounds are requested to assist with the movement of food from the truck into the pantry’s box packing area. Additional volunteers are requested to assist in stocking refrigerators, freezers and shelves as the food enters the Pantry.
Preparation of boxes for the food distribution scheduled the second Saturday of the month requires volunteers to pack boxes with fresh vegetables, other perishable items, canned vegetables, juices, frozen meats, pasta, bread and dessert. Eligible clients pick up their food box from the parking lot of DuPage AME Church; drivers deliver food boxes to eligible clients who are sick and shut-in
